XM2 | Ronin-Majig | Safety Accessory Bracket for DJI Ronin 2

The Ronin-Majig is designed to protect your camera payload if it separates from your Ronin 2 gimbal.

Inspired by XM2's Thingymajig, the Ronin-Majig provides a common attachment point for a paracord safety cable. Once the Ronin-Majig is installed on the R2, securely tie each side of the provided paracord to the Ronin-majig safety bracket and your camera/payload. We recommend using a bowline knot (Learn to tie a bowline here).

The Ronin-majig and Paracord don't interfere with the Ronin 2 pan axis adjustments, movements, power cables, or batteries. It's also low-profile and integrates into the underside of the Ronin 2 Pan Axis. Milled on a 5-axis CNC machine from billet 6061 aluminum, the bracket can easily support your payload weight in an emergency scenario.

To install on and upgrade your DJI Ronin 2, simply remove the two M4 bolts from the Ronin 2 Pan Axis and replace them with the longer supplied bolts and Ronin-majig Safety Bracket. (We recommend applying Loc-Tite 243 to the bolt threads.)

Why XM2 Labs Engineers Designed This?

XM2 Cine has years of experience on set and use the Ronin 2 gimbal in the world's toughest conditions. Our XM2 services team experienced multiple Ronin 2 failures from cyclic fatigue in shock and high G scenarios. This is when our engineers at XM2 Labs came to save the day and solve this problem for us and you.

How to Install the Ronin-Majig onto the R2?

Step A: Install the Ronin-Majig to the R2

  1. Remove the Original Bolts: To install the Ronin-Majig on your DJI Ronin 2, remove the two M4 bolts from the R2 Pan Axis.

  2. Attach the Safety Bracket: Use the supplied M4 longer bolts to attach the Ronin-Majig to the R2. We recommend applying Loc-Tite 243 to the bolt threads to ensure they stay secure.

  3. Secure the Paracord: Secure the supplied paracord to the Ronin-Majig Safety Bracket with a bowline knot.

Step B: Secure the Paracord to the Ronin-Majig Safety Bracket with a Bowline Knot

  1. Lay Out the Paracord: Hold the two ends of your paracord together, then lay the rope flat on a table.

  2. Make a Small Loop: Take the left half of the paracord and make a small loop about halfway down. Ensure you have enough length on the shorter end to form the knot. The loop should be made so that the shorter end goes over the longer end.

  3. Thread the Shorter End: Take the right end of the paracord and pass it up through the loop from the underside.

  4. Wrap Around the Longer End: Wrap the shorter end around the longer end of the paracord.

  5. Thread the Shorter End Back Through the Loop: Pass the shorter end back down through the loop.

  6. Tighten the Knot: Hold both the shorter and longer ends, then pull to tighten the knot. Ensure the loop remains the desired size.

Step C: Attach to Camera/Payload

  1. Secure the Camera/Payload: After tying the bowline knot to the safety bracket, securely tie the other end of the paracord to your camera or payload using another bowline knot or a suitable secure knot.

  2. Double-Check Security: Ensure all knots are tight and secure before using the Ronin 2.

R2 Exoskeleton

The R2 Exoskeleton is made by XM2 and is designed to reinforce the DJI Ronin 2 Gimbal at its most vulnerable point and complete this safety ecosystem. Forming a bridge across the Ronin 2 spine, the Exoskeleton provides critical support for the gimbal and also incorporates additional attachment points for accessories.
