Recommended installation: the standard non-Pilot Pro Alta X configuration covered by the SLG-20-AX installation manual, using a compatible PWM control source. Pilot Pro and aircraft fitted with additional systems require the installer to assess integration and clearance.
The SLG-20-AX Retractable Landing Gear is a proven, production-ready upgrade for the Freefly Alta X, designed to improve clearance, reduce rigging time, and enable clean camera movement for high-end film, television, and industrial drone operations.
Developed, tested, and refined by XM2 Labs, the SLG-20-AX has been deployed globally by licensed UAV pilots on demanding shoots with heavy payloads - right up to the Alta X’s maximum lift capacity.
This is a system for compatible Alta X configurations engineered for reliability, repeatability, and professional use in real-world conditions.

Pilot Pro compatibility and retract control
The SLG-20-AX requires a PWM control signal to raise and lower the landing gear. Do not assume a Pilot Pro-equipped Alta X has a direct connection for the retracts' signal cable.
Where the Brain Bay fits in
The XM2 HD FPV System for Alta X includes a Brain Bay with three user-configurable PWM outputs. A correctly configured Brain Bay PWM output can provide the control signal for XM2 retracts. This is a PWM control connection on the Brain Bay, not the FPV video output.
Providing the control signal is only one part of compatibility. It does not, by itself, confirm physical mounting, wiring or operation for every Pilot Pro-equipped aircraft.
Mounting clearance and additional equipment
The purchaser and installer are responsible for checking their aircraft configuration before purchase and installation. Check mounting space, wiring routes and clearance throughout the landing gear’s full range of movement, including any additional equipment, accessories or modifications fitted to the aircraft.
Compatibility with third-party equipment or modified aircraft configurations is not guaranteed. Adding a Brain Bay PWM output does not resolve physical clashes or make a Pilot Pro installation plug-and-play.
For the documented installation route, use the standard non-Pilot Pro Alta X configuration described in the SLG-20-AX manual, with a suitable PWM control source. Complete all installation and pre-flight checks in the manual.
Other PWM control options
A compatible radio receiver with a suitable PWM output is another control option. Follow the SLG-20 installation manual for signal requirements, failsafe configuration and installation checks.
Brain Bay landing-gear functions depend on the installed configuration. Confirm setup and test operation in accordance with the relevant instructions before use.
